In Memoriam. William F. Hyland, Jr. Esq. (September 30, 1947 – November 5, 2024) was a respected attorney, co-founder of the law firm Hyland Levin Shapiro, and a dedicated community leader whose career reflected deep commitment to integrity, professionalism, and service. After an early role in public administration as one of the youngest city managers in the country, he pursued law, becoming a trusted advisor and advocate known for his thoughtful counsel and collegial approach to client relationships. His leadership extended beyond the firm into community service, including board roles with nonprofits such as Wiley Mission and the Virtua Foundation, and long-standing involvement with Habitat for Humanity and other local organizations. Bill’s legacy endures in the strong professional standards he set, the civic institutions he supported, and the many individuals he mentored and served across his legal and civic endeavors.
