Opeyemi (Yemi) D. Akinde, an associate with the firm, concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial litigation and employment.
Yemi is a graduate of Rutgers Law School – Newark (J.D., 2020), where she served as President of the Labor & Employment Law Society and Secretary of the Moot Court Board. She was also a member of the National Mock Trial Team, earning multiple awards from the American Bar Association, both individually and with her teammates. Additionally, Yemi completed internships with the U.S. Department of Labor, the City of Jersey City Law Department, and the Honorable Esther Salas, U.S. District Judge for the District of New Jersey. Upon graduation, Yemi received the Myron Harkavy Prize for Most Promise as a Trial Lawyer among her entire graduating class.
Areas of Practice
Yemi earned her undergraduate degree from Rutgers University – New Brunswick (B.A., 2017) in Political Science, with minors in History and Labor Studies.
Prior to joining Hyland Levin Shapiro, Yemi served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Benjamin C. Telsey, A.J.S.C., Assignment Judge of the New Jersey Superior Court for Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem Counties.

Yemi is originally from New York and currently resides in Deptford, New Jersey. When she is not practicing law, Yemi enjoys cooking, reading, exercising, and traveling.
