Shereen C. Chen, a partner with the firm, concentrates her practice in the area of immigration and nationality law. Her clients include professional athletes, opera stars, religious leaders, high net worth investors, health care employees, corporations, golf courses and resorts along with nonprofit organizations, including temples and shrines across the U.S.
Shereen focuses on corporate immigration matters, including employer corporate and I-9 compliance. She often works with corporations in the midst of a merger or acquisition, advising on the immigration concerns in corporate restructuring and development of immigration procedures. She advises human resource management on compliance and conducts audits for companies to insure immigration compliance. She also handles individual cases including family-based petitions and naturalization.
She has also covered the gamut of other immigration issues, including non-immigrant (E, H, I, L, O, P, Q and R). She has experience with adjustment of status cases; extraordinary individuals with abilities in the arts, sciences, athletics or business; multinational executives; labor certification/PERM cases; naturalization; waivers; and exchange visitors.
Shereen speaks frequently on business immigration issues before bar associations, trade groups and HR departments. In addition, she is frequently quoted in the media including the Philadelphia Inquirer and KYW Radio, Philadelphia. Every year since 2008, Shereen has been the speaker at the Burlington County Law Day Ceremony where new U.S. citizens are recognized. In 2011, Shereen was named one of the “Outstanding Women of Burlington County” and honored for her immigration work. She has appeared as an immigration expert for NBC 10 News in Philadelphia and on the South Jersey television show "Legal Lines." Shereen has served as the keynote speaker in partnership with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (Mount Laurel, NJ office) for the Naturalization Ceremonies at the Mitchell Cohen Federal Courthouse in Camden, New Jersey.
Shereen has been selected to be included in The Best Lawyers in America (2009 - 2014); selected a "40 under 40" by the New Jersey Law Journal (2004); and elected as a "Super Lawyer, Rising Star" by the New Jersey Super Lawyers (2005-2011). This year, she was selected for inclusion as a Super Lawyer for her immigration work. She is the recipient of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers Association (APALA) of New Jersey Distinguished Excellence recognition (2006) and the recipient of the New State Bar Association Pro Bono Award of the Year (2006). She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA). Shereen was recently named a leader in immigration law in New Jersey by Ten Leaders, a cooperative that bases rankings on peer referrals.
Shereen is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University (B.A. 1993) and the Rutgers University School of Law-Camden (J.D. 1996). Born in Taipei, Taiwan, and immigrated to the U.S., she is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.
Outside of the office, Shereen who played lacrosse at Johns Hopkins, is a devoted hockey mom.
